From Heat and Pressure Comes True Love, Feb 17th

Published on February 3, 2016, by

160217-x220The Central Coast STEM Collaborative (CCSTEM), will continue its ongoing informal, educational lecture series “Science After Dark” with a lecture at 6:30pm, February 17, 2016 at Luis Wine Bar in San Luis Obispo. The series is scheduled for the second Wednesday of every month through June, 2016. Also titled, “The Science and Romance of Diamonds”.

What better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day (post holiday that is) than with a elebration of diamonds, featuring gemologist Jamie Foster. Ask any bride, well, practically any bride, the wedding story better begin with something that actually comes from a great deal of heat and pressure – a diamond – just like a long-lasting marriage. Let’s go to great depths to find out where diamonds come from, open our eyes to all the colors of the rainbow, look up to out-of-this-world diamond beauties. We’ll include a dash of history and lore. It will be an ode to diamonds and all things pure, pure science that is. You’ll have to provide the romance on your own time.

Where: Luis Wine Bar, 1021 Higuera Street, SLO (must be over age 21)
Date: Wednesday, February 17, 2016
Time: Discussion starts at 6:30pm, come early to get settled and order your beverage. Light appetizers available for purchase, or you may bring your own food. All beverages must be purchased at Luis Wine Bar. Selections include wine, beer, organic sodas, coffee, and tea.
Cost: $5.00 cover charge
