The attendees of the UPRR Short Line Workshop were treated to a train ride aboard eight of the UP's Heritage Fleet railcars. Here's the day's handout <PDF> UP provided detailing some information about the train. This particular consist was widely varied in vintage and style, but the most unique car to me was the baggage car. It was basically empty but for a small serving area (counter). The car was refered to as the Dance Car as the hardwood floor throughout was gorgeous. We boarded at UP's milepost 0, the very first section of UP track. Ever. We just happened to pass by Offutt Air Force Base during an air show. This is the view from the observation car at the rear of the train. These inspection, theater-style cars are very cool! The crew wyed the entire train at Union. That evening, the UP held a reception at the Joslyn Art Museum for the workshop attendees. John Newman, Asst.
