Sunday was a free day in Seattle.

At least 20 trains went by the station today. Wow. Coal trains, containers (single and double stacked, manifests, piggy backs...

A pow-wow on the platform planning the day's activities.

Dad and I took it easy today. We ventured out only for meals, starting with lunch at Seattle's oldest operating restaurant, the Merchant Cafe. Food turned out to be surprisingly gourmet, and the decor was very appropriate for its history. This picture is downstairs, the "underground" level.

Fabulous garlic shrimp dish on a bed of pureed fennel.

Now it's dinner time, at McCoy's Firehouse Bar & Grill. Kevin and I thoroughly enjoyed the peanut butter bacon burger!

That's peanut butter, not cheese!

That night a rail grinding train showed up to do some work near the station.

Trains enter this tunnel almost immediately after departing north from the station.

Our two railcars on the spur with the stadium in the background.
