Amtrak Trip
Kansas City, Southwest Chief, Chicago, Empire Builder 1 and 2, Starlight 1, 2 and 3 |
We spent all day at the Science and Industry Museum. An entire Burlington Zephyr is on display and tourable. Beneath the 707 hanging from the ceiling is a marvelous HO gauge layout depicting the Empire Builder route from Chicago to Seattle. Here you see the modeling of Chicago. Enroute. Enroute. Seattle, WA. Nicely modeled kayakers. Bill at the controls of a PRR steam locomotive. |
Another view of the Chicago portion of the HO layout. Clever access to the interior areas of the model. Bird's eye view of the model. Chicago is at the top. Seattle is out of view below the picture. The Boeing building in Chicago (full size, with the Boeing logo). A Boeing (McDonnel Douglass) airplane flies by. The Amtrak station is in the underground levels of the building in the center. One of the Amtrak entrances is exactly in the center of the picture. The old Union Station is the older building to the right and beyond the center building. The Empire Builder pulling out of Chicago headed west, on time, and champagne around for the sleeper passengers. |
