Thank You! NotebookPictured at left is the cover of a Thank You! Notebook that the student's wrote to the Museum for providing the field trip. And pictured below are samples of a letter and a drawing. The notebook contained many such letters and drawings. 
Sometimes it's events like this that bring out the best in children. One student, who many thought didn't even belong in the 3rd grade, wrote an excellent letter of thanks. Original thoughts were expressed, along with sincere appreciation, and in perfect grammar with perfect spelling!One of the California third grade writing standards is writing a letter.
