Surfliner SLO to LA with Lunch at Philippe December 27, 2008
Two PB&J Railroad officers took a "land cruise" to Union Station in Los Angeles from San Luis Obispo by the Amtrak Surfliner. Lunch was French dipped sandwiches at Philippe. Here are some pics along the way, and in the environs of Union Station. This was the first train outing for the new Nikon D60.

Philippe is a very popular place! It's just a block north of Union Station. Crowded, loud, sawdust floor, but very good food. We had the sandwiches, cole slaw, and pie (cherry and coconut cream) - all very good. There were 5 or 6 lines inching toward the counter the entire time we were there. Here's the Philippe web site. We had posted a question on TrainOrders.com as to where to eat lunch near Union Station; the entire discussion is here.
