July 17, 2005Firepit work continues, and No. 3 gets a workout and is lined up for its first repair.       The rocklayers took a break to come up to Bitter Creek Western RR for a ride!  As Jamie was shutting down for the day, it became clear that the stem pipe for the whistle had broken. It started to leak a little steam, then more, then wow!... At right you can see down into the dome. At about 7:00, you can see half of the hole into the boiler where the stem broke off. At left the various parts lay on the hood of the cab, including the broken pipe between the whistle and the valve.
