May 24, 2005The empire construction begins with the installation of a fence for the dog and the soon-to-be grandchild. Below are pictures of "the guys" working on the fence and the computer-network trench between the houses.  Orange flags mark the future location of the 7.5-inch track. This is on the west side of the west house looking south.  Trevor's finishing up a post hole. This view is basically to the east. The railroad will come along the white trellis (back right), run behind Trevor, and go through the fence to the left of and behind Trevor as it approaches the wye in the center of the yard.  Looking southwest with the west house in the picture. The guys are digging the networking trench. The railroad will come from the left back, go through the middle of the fence, and continue out of the picture to the lower right. The outer-loop mainline will also come along behind the house in the picture, through the oak trees, and switch into the line coming from the left.  Trevor grabs a sack of concrete for the posts. Again, orange flags mark the railroad path.  Jon lifts one of the gate sections.  Trenching between the houses, looking east.  Matt tackles the weeds where the westerly-most fence will run.
