Alvin All-Star Railroad (AASRR)

Train Layout (HO) - 3/8/02


Work on the facades for the buildings began in earnest today. Below, two girls draw and color on paper to simulate the look of the old Union Sugar mill at Betteravia. They're looking at two pictures of the mill in the book, The Railroads of the Santa Maria Valley. The blue cube is the "guts" of one portion of the sugar mill. The facades they are creating will be applied to the blue cube.

  

At left below, the students are working on the facades of another portion of the sugar mill. They, too, are working from a black and white picture (on the table about right center beneath the plastic tub). Resting on an edge of that photo is a large white piece of paper on which they have started the window panes. At right, the youngsters are painting the sides and roof of the depot building. The frame of the depot building is on the table (just below center on the right).
