Alvin All-Star Railroad (AASRR)

Train Layout (HO) - 3/7/02

By the end of this third day at ground texturing, this portion of the project was essentially complete. Note the vast progress from the picture at left (early in today's session) to the picture at right (near the end of today's session). There were times today when as many as ten children were working simultaneously around the platform. Note in the lower right corner of the left picture that the roads are being "asphalted" today as well (hand and paint brush).

Below left, two boys work on ground texturing in the foreground, and two girls do the same at the far end of the platform. One applies the thinned white glue while the other follows behind and applies the "gravel" (or "grass" or "dirt"). At right, you can see the roads being painted as well as the green texturing materials in the girl's bowl.

The beat goes on... Every student in the classroom today got time at the platform. Generally, railroading time is during the last 50 minutes of the day. Students rotate in and out of the railroad "center" from and to other centers with the teacher or independent work.

Still to go - buildings and backgrounds...
