Alvin All-Star Railroad (AASRR)

Train Layout (HO) - 3/6/02

This was day two of applying ground texture to the platform. This is a relatively simple procedure of spreading a fairly thin (runny) glue to the platform with a paint brush, and then sprinkling the texture granuals on top of the glue. Once the glue dries, excess granuals may be brushed off.

Below left, two youngsters work on laying the roadbed with Mr. Bill. The paving is a plaster-of-paris-like "thick soup" that is poured between previously layed forms. When dry, the forms are removed, and the roadbed can be painted with a top coat that gives it either an asphalt or concrete look. At right, the blue masking tape can be seen around/over switches and toggles to prevent glue and granuals from jamming them.
