Meteorologist John Lindsey Discusses Climate Change And Its Impact On Central Coast Weather

The Central Coast STEM Collaborative (CCSTEM), kicks off the third season of the educational lecture series “Science After Dark” at 6:30pm, September 16, 2015, at Steynberg Gallery in San Luis Obispo. Climate change, the science behind it, and its current and future impacts on Central Coast weather will be the topic at this season’s first installment of Science After Dark. We have been hearing a great deal recently about the increasingly destructive power of extreme weather systems throughout much of the U.S. and in other countries. California is not immune to the effects of climate change as we too are experiencing what may be the most severe drought in recorded history. A report released by the Department of Energy says that even our electrical grid will be impacted due to the effects of global warming. John Lindsey is a media relations associate and marine meteorologist for Pacific Gas and Electric Company at Diablo Canyon Power Plant. He has worked for PG&E for more than 10 years. He has forecasted weather and oceanographic conditions along the Central Coast of California for over 22 years. His weather forecasts can be heard every morning on KVEC 920 AM radio. John writes a weekly column that appears in Sunday’s edition of the San Luis Obispo Tribune.
