The 2016 31st Annual Central Coast STEM Expo is being held Friday and Saturday, 13-14 May 2016, at Cabrillo High School at 4350 Constellation Road, Lompoc, CA 93436, in the gymnasium and associated patio areas. I am once again looking for volunteers:
FRIDAY:
1:15pm – 6:00pm Set-up/tear down support
5:00pm – 8:00pm Judging support
SATURDAY:
7:30am – 2:30pm Judging support
2:30pm – 5:00pm Set-up and awards placement support
8:00pm – 9:00pm Tear down support
One does not have to have a science, math or engineering degree to volunteer. If you are uncomfortable judging, I have several non-judging duties with varying degrees of involvement. We will be judging 4-10 Grade (mostly 7th grade Middle School) age children’s projects dealing with math and science related subjects. I also have plenty of set-up/ tear down tasks to handle if you do not want to be a judge.
This is a great way to spend a few hours doing some worthy community service work and just having fun with the future leaders of our community! We always get some pizza Friday night and on Saturday for the volunteers and have a lot of fun working as a team. I’ve had a lot of previous volunteers say how rewarding the experience had been!
If interested please contact ann.card@us.af.mil or call her at 805-606-9477. Please provide her with your work address and work phone number as well as days/times you can commit. I always like to follow-up after the event with a letter of appreciation. Please pass on to anyone you think would have an interest in helping out.
Thank you!
Regards,
Tom Stevens
