The Central Coast STEM Collaborative (CCSTEM), online will continue its ongoing informal, viagra order educational lecture series “Science After Dark” with a lecture at 6:30pm, May 18, 2016 at Luis Wine Bar in San Luis Obispo.
For most of the 20th Century, Pismo Beach was famous for its Pismo clams. People came from all over the state to dig for these delicious bivalves, harvesting them quite literally by the millions. For many years, Pismo clams were so ubiquitous that larger shells were even used as currency. And then a few decades ago, they all but vanished. What happened to them? And can we bring them back? Join Cal Poly Marine Science Professor Benjamin Ruttenberg for a deep dive into the history of the rise and fall of this once iconic mollusk. He’ll also provide an update on Cal Poly’s recent research to document the current status of the species and understand what may have caused the decline—and what we might do to reverse it.
