July 8-12, 2015SMVRR Business Excursion to Portland Lynn and Jamie joined the Santa Maria Valley Railroad officers and investors on a business excursion to Portland, Oregon aboard the Tioga Pass and the Pacific Sands (behind Amtrak's Coast Starlight). THURSDAY Thursday: Southern Oregon to Portland, evening in Portland Friday: Peninsula Terminal Co., SMV #205, Wilfs Saturday: Portland Art Museum, Portland to southern Oregon Sunday: Sacramento to SLO  The "roomettes" on the Pacific Sands can open into a double roomette, which is very roomy!    Be careful what you ask for...     Note the trees. By the time I started taking pictures we were well into Oregon.        Snowshed.  The Tioga Pass is blue; the Pacific Sands yellow.     This is the site of the "mountain rebuild" several years ago following a huge landslide.        Not much excuse for not seeing this one.   That's Christy getting the drink orders. Our excellent crew included Malia Ramos, Christy Hatrick, and Tracy Liu.        We ate incredibly well.           The Portland Amtrak station is just on the other side of this very cool bridge.      They jetted by directly beneath us.    Portland!      We tried to eat here - 45 minute wait. So on to Henry's.   Henry's Tavern.
