Previously un-visited Arroyo Grande/Edna Valley Wineries

Bob, Sandy, Lynn, and Jamie headed out on another "nowhere we've been before" wine tasting trip in our own backyard: Arroyo Grande and Edna Valley area. And they all turned out to be delightful discoveries: Clesi Wines, Stephen Ross Wine Cellars, and Kynsi Winery.

Clesi Wines was our first stop. This is an appointment-only winery which I managed to connect with Superbowl Sunday morning and set up a 1pm meeting time. The owner showed up and we thoroughly enjoyed him and his wines. They do but a thousand cases a year (or so). Had a couple varietals we'd never had before: dolcetto and malvasia bianca. Like them both. They also have a barbera from San Benito County, so we had to tell him a little about benitoite. Clesi is co-located with Per Bacco Winery (along the highway 101 west-side frontage road just south of Los Osos Valley Road).

Kynsi is Finnish for talons, which Bob is demonstrating.
