Santa Barbara Zoo by Train May 8, 2008 Coffees in hand, all ready to go! It was a four-generation guy trip (the 4th guy is behind the camera), starting from the San Luis Obispo Amtrak station, of course. The Surfliner passes behind a Union Pacific locomotive that still has remnants of the ol' "Espee" paint scheme sometimes called the "bloody nose". Never without a Thomas story. Santa Barbara. Sliding down the "grassy knoll" in the play area was the best! We had dinner at the Enterprise Fish Company before boarding the train for home. It's a three minute walk from the station. There's an amazing fig tree on the train station property. Private railcar spur - 1905. The northbound Surfliner arrives for our trip home.
